1/15/2024 0 Comments Faithful Servant The day had finally arrived! My husband of 32 years and I were retiring and planning on purchasing a home. We had been house searching and just couldn’t settle on the right place. We heard of a house located in an area we hadn’t looked in to before, so we jumped into the car to drive by the house. It was a nice house and had many outside features that we had on our list. We drove around the block and my husband abruptly said, “Let’s go call the realtor,” and we headed back to town. We were coming down a hill and my husband commented on all the on-coming traffic. He said, “someone must have left the gate open.” We laughed at the remark. As I drove, I came upon a sharp curve, taking the curve a bit fast, but was in control of the car. Keeping my eyes on the road I made a comment to my husband to which he didn’t reply. I looked over at him and his head was laid back, and his eyes were rolled back in his head. I couldn’t even process what I was seeing. I put my right hand on his chest and began to pray all while looking for a place to pull over. He never reacted, yet he was breathing slightly. Finally, I saw a wide spot, and quickly pulled over! No pulse, no heartbeat, no breath. I took my foot off the brake and threw the car into park, then it happened…. I’ve read about open visions, but I have never had one, -where you are actually watching things right before your very eyes. I saw two angels enter the car and assist my husband to a walkway, I don’t know how else to describe it. (Luke 16:19-31) (Hebrews 1:14) (Psalm 91:11) I wasn’t (strangely enough) scared, because there was a peace like I have never felt. (Philippians 4:7) As I continued in the vision, I saw the angels, one on each side, walk along side my husband up this walkway. He was walking fast, almost trying to run. I looked up the walkway and saw the hands of Jesus stretched forth. The light was too bright for me to see anything else. The Lord spoke to my heart in that moment. The LORD, said, “If you call your husband’s name, he will turn and come back. I looked at my husband and all those years of standing in the gap came rushing back to me. The tears of intercessions, the “I don’t understand” conversations flooded my memory. I remembered contending with the enemy and his lies. (Ezekiel 22:30) Yet 28 months prior, my husband finally dedicated his life to the Lord. Now I was given the choice. I said, “Lord, I cannot call his name and have him turn and look at me. He is running toward you, as it should be. Again, I felt that overwhelming peace. I then saw my husband take off running. The vision ended. I am just sitting there, not in shock, but in AWE over what I had just witnessed! Thirty years of prayers, contending, never backing down, never giving up! – He made it! He made it! Thank you, God! He made it! Reality set in! I looked around to see where I was and realized I was sitting in front of the cemetery we both had plots. I couldn’t even wrap my mind around that. I drove to the nearest ER as quickly as I could, the staff took my husband into the ER where he was pronounced deceased. When I went home and laid down to rest, the peace was still there. That peace stayed with me through all the final arrangements. Some questioned my lack of tears and my reply, “My tears had been shed while contending for his soul. Now all I can do was rejoice that he made it to the arms of the LORD.” I thank JESUS for HIS GOODNESS and MERCY. I share this spiritual experience because we don’t have it all figured out. God’s ways are not our ways! (Isaiah 55:8-9) Our days are numbered and when it’s our time, it’s our time. The LORD did not take my husband out of timing. It was a cry of my heart, Lord do not take my husband until he knows you. (Psalm 139:16) I had to do my part. (Matthew 9:37-38) Do NOT stop standing in the gap for your spouses. Do not stop interceding for your family. You do not know when their time has come to fullness. You set your heart to stand (and there are times you lay down) but don’t back off! In the end you will win for goodness and mercy will hunt them down. (Psalm 23:16) Keep praying and let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (Galatians 6:9) Well done, good and faithful servant. May the Lord find us faithful, Christy Allman
