To the Busy Woman,
I write this in humility and with transparency. I’ve been in a season of so much busyness, doing a lot of ministry work, spending a lot of time ministering to others and I have felt that draw to be with the Lord, to set aside more time to be in his presence and I received a message from a Pastor in Kenya that just said “read Isaiah 55:6”-So I did- ‘seek the Lord while he may be found, call on him while he is near’.
I thanked that Pastor and I began asking the Holy Spirit to help me to lay some things down. It’s been a struggle, we’re in a season where there’s so much going on to prepare for the Christmas holiday with our families, the shopping, the baking, wrapping presents, and my full time job. I sat here this morning in my chair in my rec room where I meet with the Lord and I listened over and over to the Song of Solomon, the song recently released by Jesus Image and I found myself drawn back to the pages of the Song of Songs or the Song of Solomon this morning. I’m reminded in chapter 2:1 of the rose of Sharon that speaks of the joy of those who have been redeemed, not looking at the desert or the wilderness I may find myself in, but knowing what love has already done for me which draws my attention and my heart back to Him. As I sit and ponder these words, things begin to come to life again in my heart. I come in proximity to the lover of my soul, I can feel the warmth of his presence. The Rose of Sharon, a lily of the valley needs the dew of His presence that causes all things to grow and come to life. I can do a lot of good things apart from the Lord. I can get busy doing so many good things, ministering to those who are broken and lost (which I have a heart for) but I need my own time with the Lord first! My first priority should be ministering to the Lord’s heart! In verse 15 it says- catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom. The busyness and distractions of the holiday season and all that is going on in the world are the little foxes that have distracted me and I’ve taken my eyes off of The One who never leaves me. He stays with me until the darkness is gone, he is my way in the wilderness, and he is the river in my desert.
Thank the Lord that he never leaves me, he’s faithful and demonstrates that by sending a word to me from a pastor on the other side of this world because he wants to be with me. Time is the most valuable thing we have and I want to be a good steward of the time God has given me.
Shouldn't we all seek Him first?
Song of Solomon 2:16 "My beloved is mine and I am his, he browses among the lilies…"
